Christmas Concert

December 20, 2016

Ever a highlight of the autumn term, the Christmas Concert on Tuesday opened with Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice and later delighted the audience with a varied second half of choral works. The performance of Gluck’s dramatic opera, directed by Heidi Pegler and performed by the Senior Choir, Chamber Orchestra, and fabulous soloists Caroline Zeghibe (VIII), Brooke Burkhart (VII) and Tara Shutes (VI), was testament to the hard work and dedication of the singers and players. Pieces sung by Paulina Voices included the world premiere of ‘Awake, Glad Heart’, a new composition by Composer-in-Residence Bernard Hughes, and the Middle School and Senior Choirs later joined them to perform the traditional Gardner carols, a fitting end to a festive musical celebration.xmas-concert-2
