Dresden Exchange

April 8, 2016

Having said teary goodbyes to exchange partners in October last year, German students in the V were excited to be reunited with their German friends after nearly six months of texting and FaceTiming. Despite Dresden having been shattered during the Second World War, the Altstadt (Old City) was entirely rebuilt, so they were able to experience the wonders of the Frauenkirche, a domed Baroque church, and the Procession of Princes, a 102-metre-long mural, which represents the history of Wettins. Other highlights included blowing giant bubbles around themselves in the Technical Collections, the deeply moving panoramic animated image showing Dresden just two minutes after being bombed in 1945, and a hike through the majestic rocks of Saxon Switzerland.
