On Saturday 4 February, ten Paulinas form the V headed to a mock trial at Wood Green Crown Court. From barristers to clerks, witnesses to jury members, everyone had a part to play. Each round was held in a courtroom with judges and professional court staff on hand to assist us. Despite being younger and less experienced than the other teams, the hard work and nerves of our team paid off, as we progressed to the final round against Tonbridge School, from which we emerged victorious. Jai was a particularly slippery witness and our barrister team of Emma and Giang looked and sounded like the real thing as they cross-examined everyone very forensically. The experience taught all who participated much about court etiquette and the different legal jobs within the profession, and gave them a chance to test their public speaking skills.
