Last week, a cast of VIII performed Earthquakes in London as their annual play. The story revolves around three sisters and how they deal with their dysfunctional familial relationships in the face of an impending environmental crisis. Described as a ‘a fast and furious metropolitan crash of people, scenes and decades’, this play was a tour de force both to perform in and to watch. The actors brought vast range of characters to life, including an ageing science enthusiast, a Liberty shop-worker a little too dedicated to her job, a surreal chorus of mothers, and even an enthusiastic polar bear. This was the VIII’s final production at St Paul’s, and to say they went out with a bang (indeed, a very nearly literal one) would be an understatement!
