An exciting Beijing Exchange gave our students the opportunity to expand their language skills and explore remarkable locations. Here Charlotte, V, discusses her experience:
After a ten hour flight, on Saturday 12 October we arrived at Second High School Attached to Beijing Normal University in West Beijing. Picked up by our host families, our visit starting with the registration in the local police station. During our stay we visited Tianjin, a modern city next to Beijing, as well as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Great Wall, and other famous sites in Beijing. We found ourselves in the middle of thousands of Chinese domestic tourists, who went to Beijing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. My favourite was Hongqiao market because we got to try haggling (I wasn’t very good!). I would recommend this trip to anyone studying Chinese because I benefited hugely and the Beijing students spoke amazing English, making bonding easier.
