Classics in film

September 25, 2019

Last Tuesday saw the launch of a new lunchtime club, focused this term on the discussion of Classics in film. Throughout the session we questioned the fixation on the ancient world that defined much of the Golden Age of Hollywood. We were fascinated by Mr Hitchcock’s talk on ‘Spartacus’ and its significance in the social climate of the ’50s and ‘60s. It’s safe to say that we left for lunch with a few more films added to our watch lists!
