Saturday 6 March was the greatest day in SPGS debating history, as our two England debaters, Kitty and Creagh (VII), metaphorically lifted the Cambridge Schools trophy. The motions were all challenging, including LGBTQ schools, development aid and the situation in Myanmar. In the final, against three teams from Eton and Dulwich, Kitty and Creagh thought up a good model and defended it tenaciously. Our other four debaters, Maya (V), Isobel (VII), Anya and Kiersten (VI), came close to the semi-finals. However, the day belonged to Kitty and Creagh, earning the school’s first ever victory and becoming only the second female team this century to win.
