Debating Successes

December 1, 2014

The St Paul’s Girls’ School debaters have been busy. At Warwick, Bella Forristal  in the VI won the cup for best speaker, with Charlotte Moberly in the V and Isabel Murray in the VI coming third and fifth respectively out of 160 entrants. At Birmingham, Josie Dallas and Jackie Li in the VII retained the title they won last year in an entertaining grand final, which also featured Charlotte and Anika Shah also in the VII. The school took the four top speaker positions through Bella, Josie, Jackie and Flora Spielman also in the VII. In the ESU Mace competition, the Paulinas progressed to the second round when Jackie and Josie defeated the boys’ school, arguing that fines should be proportionate to wealth.
