Drama Trip to Othello

February 4, 2015

Girls in the V through VIII who study drama at St Paul’s watched a local production of Othello this week, but it was not just any Shakespeare production. Performed by Frantic Assembly at the Lyric in Hammersmith, this was a very modern take on the Shakespearean classic. The play was a physical theatre production, so much of the story was choreographed, set to music and told through movement. Setting the play in modern London, giving the characters a host of regional accents, and performing most of the play against the backdrop of a club with a pool table and slot machine made the production even more memorable for the students in attendance.
