Our regular working lunches for the Senior School have gone virtual this term. Ines, VII, describes a recent online session:
Members of the VII had the opportunity to attend a finance working lunch with Isabelle Laurent, Deputy Treasurer and Head of Funding at EBRD, and Christina Dix, Head of EMEA Healthcare Investment Banking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch. These two inspiring women shared with us their experiences of careers in banking as well as the paths that led them to their respective roles. Both passionate supporters of women in finance, we discussed the importance of tackling gender inequality in these competitive workplaces and how, over the years, there has been an encouraging emergence of women’s voices and roles in finance. We also gained valuable insight on how investment banking has been forced to develop and adapt to the Coronavirus crisis, which has brought the world economy to a near halt, leaving millions of people out of work and businesses bust. All in all, this working lunch was a worthwhile experience and enabled us to apply our A-level knowledge about economics to the real world. I look forward to attending many more of these working lunches in the future.
