German Day

December 14, 2020

The MFL department made great use of digital technology to create inventive celebrations for our annual German day. Alice, VI, tells us more:

This half term we celebrated our annual German day, a celebration of the German language and culture! We had a fantastic lunch including Bratwurst, Schnitzel and Danube wave cake, which gave us a real flavour of German cuisine. This was followed by lots of German treats and Christmas activities presented via Zoom on big screens to year group bubbles, including an insightful presentations on German Christmas traditions delivered by the VII Germanists. After school there was a Zoom talk hosted jointly by the German department and SPEAC. We heard from Maxine Fromm, a German LSE masters graduate who explained the foundations of the financial system. Her focus was on green investments and how these work, using examples of projects in Germany which is a leading European country environmentally. This was an inspirational talk, highly relevant and provided insight into a post-Covid economic recovery through renewable investments!
