International History Bee and Bowl

March 30, 2016

On 12 March two Paulina teams journeyed to Greig City Academy in North London to participate in the national round of the annual International History Bee & Bowl. The competition, which originated in America, is a University Challenge-style game which tests participants on a range of historical trivia, from communist Russia to Alexander Hamilton to the Treaty of Westphalia. Both our varsity team of VII (Kiran Khanom, Alice Marbach, Lucy ODonnell, Amita Singh, Alexa Stanger, Freya Wilson) and junior varsity team of V and VI (Carolyn Alam-Nist, Bee Boileau, Sophia Carney, Ziying Liao, Cesca Peacock and Tilly Walters) triumphed in the Bowl, coming second in their respective divisions. Freya came fourth in the varsity Bee and St Paul’s had a clean sweep in the junior Bee with the aptly-named Bee taking first prize, Carolyn coming second, Ziying in bronze position and Tilly in fourth place.
