Students and staff had the opportunity to attend a reading and Q&A with the talented poet, playwright and performer Inua Ellams. Ellams is an ambassador for the Ministry of Stories, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and has published four books of poetry. His first play The 14th Tale was awarded a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival and his fourth, Barber Shop Chronicles, sold out its run at the National Theatre. During his visit Ellams performed readings of several of his works, including poems selected by the audience. This was followed by engaging discussion which covered topics such as the difference between written and spoken word, cultural appropriation and the importance of superheroes! Many thanks to Inua Ellams for coming in to speak to us and to Mr Donkor for organising his visit.
