On Thursday 12 September St Paul’s Girls’ School and St Paul’s School united for our annual Joint Concert. Organised by the Music Department, and held this year in our Great Hall, the evening was a huge success. The choir and orchestra, comprising students from both schools, performed a variety of pieces. The first half of the concert, in which the choir and orchestra performed A Foundation Anthem by Bernard Hughes, our Composer in Residence, Give unto the Lord by Elgar and Stanford’s Te Deum in B flat major, earned the singers and instrumentalists a lengthy applause. After an interval, the orchestra alone played Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no 6 in B minor op 74 (‘Pathétique’). This astonishing performance led to a great finish to the concert.
