Lit Soc Reading and Q&A

Lit Soc hosted the wonderful Seán Hewitt for a virtual poetry reading and Q&A. Connie, VII, reflects on the event:

We were delighted to host the brilliant poet Seán Hewitt for our most recent virtual reading. Described by our very own Dr Bratten as ‘Hopkins, Heaney, Wordsworth and Alice Oswald all rolled into one’, Hewitt entranced his audience with excerpts from his debut collection, Tongues of Fire, in which magical descriptions of nature are interwoven with deeper notes on mortality, queerness and loss. Hewitt’s honesty and eloquence when answering Paulinas’ questions was greatly appreciated by all, and his visit made for the loveliest of Wednesday evenings.
