Last term, our A Level drama students performed in a contemporary re-imagining of Euripides’ seminal work, Medea. Medea’s marriage, along with everything else in her life, is falling apart. Exploring the impact of betrayal, this performance questions what it means to be a woman and a wife in modern society.
This interpretation of Greek tragedy has been developed by our A Level drama students in keeping with the process and aesthetic of contemporary theatre practitioner Katie Mitchell, whose productions often centre around the female gaze and performance style of extreme naturalism in combination with creative use of multimedia.
