The MIV have enjoyed participating in Gamelan workshops to enrich their music studies. An, MIV, tells us more about the workshops:
Gamelan music is a traditional Javanese style of music played with special instruments after monsoons. We learnt all about the instruments themselves and even had a chance to try playing a bonang, saron, and kenong as part of an 8-note tune. We also learnt a lot of new terms and facts about the culture. Did you know that it’s rude to blow your nose in public in Indonesia? I found this a really interesting and fun experience and hope that they repeat it for the MIV next year.
