Our partnership with Music Junction is now in it’s third year. A musical collaboration between our students, the London Chamber Orchestra and around 55 primary school pupils, it is the diverse combination of mentee and mentor participants that is key to Music Junction’s success. This year the project is taking place remotely, so it began by focusing on how to be a mentor and with demonstrations both over Teams and by video recording.
All participants find their own unique ways to teach, inspire and learn from one another. The collaborative nature of Music Junction creates an equal sense of contribution and accomplishment for all participants regardless of previous musical experience or background. By encouraging participants to connect and interact with other young people they develop empathy and respect for themselves and others as well as learning valuable skills.
