The weekend before half term the St Paul’s rowers competed in the National Schools Regatta at Eton Dorney Lake. The three-day event is considered the biggest regatta in the rowing year with an amazing opportunity to race against national and international clubs in a wide range of categories. From J15 quads to championship eights, we came away with impressive results. On the Saturday girls from every year were racing, beginning with the J15 8s. The A boat placed 17th in the country and the senior 8+, racing in their brand new Empacher boat, qualified for the final for the first time in 14 years. This is an outstanding achievement for the Boat Club and the senior 8+ finished 7th overall. Sunday brought about more senior racing and a chance for the J16s to race. The J16 4+ and senior pair both raced hard in their categories to place 11th and 9th respectively, with Asta Lewis and Freya Casson winning their B final. The senior 4+ rounded off the weekend with an extremely close race, crossing the finish line in third place just 0.35 seconds behind the next boat.
