We recently enjoyed a wonderful Parfitt Day, our annual keyboard celebration. Sophia, V, summarises the range of activities enjoyed by the music department:
Thanks to Miss White’s ingenuity, this Parfitt Day felt so close to normal – a huge achievement. International pianist Clare Hammond gave a captivating lunchtime recital, including music by the female composer Lili Boulanger. She then guided three of us expertly through a live masterclass later in the afternoon, exploring Liszt, Debussy and Beethoven. The day closed with a pre-recorded concert of piano, organ and harpsichord music, from Bach to Rachmaninoff to a Latin American favourite! More performances were saved for a Parfitt Tea concert this week. It was an immensely uplifting and motivating experience for all.
