Paulina Volunteers in South Africa

March 4, 2015

Over half term, Molly Foster in the VI, travelled to South Africa to do some volunteer work.  Here are her thoughts on the experience:

‘During half term, I spent two weeks in Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa as part of an expedition with London Wing Air Cadets. We had decided over a year ago to take part in a project to build a kitchen for the Mkhizi primary school, an underprivileged Zulu school. Experiences such as safari, walking the Fugitives’ Trail and a four day trek in the Drakensberg were amazing, but the most profound effect on me was meeting the children who attended the school. Teaching a small amount of first aid and speaking to them about their lives and aspirations was a powerful contrast to the privilege I experience every day at St Paul’s.’
