Drama Trip to Lippy

March 20, 2015

As part of the school-directed course, drama students were taken to see Lippy, a Dead Centre production, at the Young Vic this week. The play was divided into three parts, including a ten-minute video monologue of a woman’s lips. The unconventional production shifted from a witty, interactive, interview setting to a more abstract and haunting enactment of the true-story deaths of four women, who starved themselves ‘for God’. The aim was to explore lip reading and its inaccuracies, in particular, how lip readers often impose their own interpretation of a sequence of events onto the true story.
