Professor Alvin Jackson Visits St Paul’s

March 18, 2015

On 13 March, A level historians welcomed Alvin Jackson, Professor of History at the University of Edinburgh and author of one of the course’s main texts, Ireland, 1798-1998: Politics and War, for an afternoon of discussion and debate on the Anglo-Irish question. Professor Jackson delivered two enlightening and informative lectures on the twin forces of nationalism and unionism, stressing their similarities as well as differences. The afternoon was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore the themes of the course and to converse with a leading expert in Irish history.
