Sean O’Brien Visits St Paul’s

October 11, 2016

LitSoc welcomed the award-winning poet Sean O’Brien as a guest speaker. He read out a number of his poems, encompassing ideas from the landscape and mythology of Hammersmith to a hypothetical Scottish cult of Marmite devotees (performed, of course, in a Highland brogue). His poems and the anecdotes which accompanied them were deemed highly entertaining and intriguing by us all. A small group of senior English students, many aspiring writers, then had the marvellous opportunity of having lunch with him, where they had a great discussion on topics ranging from the position of Poet Laureate to the nature of a tube carriage.
