Last year 12 members of the UIV were lucky enough to be involved with the global Ship of Tolerance art project, partnered with boys and girls from Melcombe Primary. Founded by Russian contemporary artists based in the USA, Emilia and Ilya Kabakov, the project involves creating patterned sails that explore ideas of tolerance, acceptance and diversity. We are delighted to announce that at least four of our sails were picked to be displayed on the ship, which can be seen outside Tate Modern until 6 October! Not only that, we were lucky enough to meet Emilia herself, who came to watch us give a year assembly about the project on Wednesday. Listening to her speak was an amazing, inspirational experience – one I will never forget.
