Over half term, nine Paulinas set off for Beijing to visit their much-missed exchanges. After sleeping off their jet-lag, they had a weekend with our host families. Visits included a trip to Beijing’s famous art district and zoo, and of course, the Great Wall of China. The boat ride around the summer palace was a unanimous highlight as it allowed us them experience the gorgeous scenery. Despite the new vocab and bargaining skills picked up at the Pearl Market, the real educational element lay in the experiencing the completely different culture. They found it hard to adjust sometimes, but managed to struggle through botched attempts at using chopsticks and can safely say we had an immersive Chinese experience.
