This half term, four VII Paulinas made a journey of a lifetime to the Land of the Rising Sun. Along with boys from St Paul’s, they participated in an exchange with Jishukan High School in Toyohashi, a town in Japan’s Aichi region. With their extremely hospitable host families they experienced day-to-day Japanese life, from lessons in school to sleeping on futons, as well as getting a tourist’s view through day trips to Tokyo and Kyoto. The futuristic technology of the cities (heated toilets, bullet trains…) were in striking juxtapostiion with the more traditional aspects of their culture. They ended their trip on a literal high with a ride on the tallest roller coaster in the world!
