St Paul’s in Venice

October 31, 2016

During half term, a group of ten Paulinas set out to Venice to improve their Italian. Each day started with four hours of Italian lessons at the language school and was followed by afternoon activities, which included seeing St Mark’s Square, watching a performance of The Merchant of Venice, and even a gondola ride. A particular highlight was visiting the islands of Murano and Burano, which charmed with their brightly-coloured houses and quieter atmosphere; the boat ride back to Venice at sunset with extraordinary views over the Venetian lagoon was also stunning. They returned home a week later with a broader Italian vocabulary, as well as a true appreciation for Italian food.
