Recently members of staff have written in to share what they have been getting up to outside of school. Several members of staff have embarked on creative projects: Marcus from our catering team has launched a website, linked here, to share his culinary inventions and Darshan, from the IT team, has been putting together a model of a gundam (giant robot) from a popular anime, an intricate project taking a week to build.
Several have also embraced charity and volunteering opportunities. Marcus has been doing the shopping and picking up prescriptions for all his neighbours who are shielding and/or isolating, while Tamara, one of our science technicians, has been baking cupcakes for local hospitals and birthday cakes free of charge for people in her community who are spending it in isolation. She has also been volunteering, by tutoring science via zoom/email to children in her local area that are struggling with school and finding it difficult with online lessons, as well as collecting shopping for elderly people in her local area and making face masks for those in her local area that need to go out. Francesca, one of our school receptionists, recently received a sewing machine for her birthday and has been teaching herself to sew face masks through YouTube tutorials.
