St Paul’s in Epping Forest

June 22, 2016

On what appeared to be a sunny Wednesday morning, the V set out on a day trip to Epping Forest to investigate biodiversity in natural habitats and experiment with different sampling techniques. In the morning they carried out a pond dipping investigation, during which they found a variety of creatures ranging from greater water boatmen to a newt. Equipped with waterproof jackets and ponchos to face the pouring rain, they then turned their attention to the woodland where they compared environmental growth in the dark and the light by using quadrats and light intensity meters.
