Sheng Bo Chengdu, a new international school, will open under the SPGS International banner in September 2020. It is the first in a network of SPGS International schools planned to open across China, with a set of bilingual schools to follow from 2021. Although SPGS International schools will operate independently from St Paul’s in London, the schools will be grounded in a close partnership and in a shared ethos.
Sheng Bo Chengdu is an international co-educational school, aimed at the ex-pat community. It opens as a result of a partnership between SPGS International and Herald Education Hong Kong. The school will initially cater for children aged 4-7 years old, expanding over the coming years to educate students through to 18. Located in Chengdu, the capital of the Sichuan province, the school will have strong links with the area’s hi-tech industries and will benefit from its growing international business environment. Sichuan province is rich in culture and natural beauty. It is home to panda conservation and takes pride in its biodiversity and natural sources of energy. We are excited by the prospect of meaningful links between our schools and aim to draw upon local and global inspiration to enrich education for all our students.
Students at the Chengdu school will experience a broad and rounded education. Academic excellence will be underpinned by wealth of co-curricular provision, a focus on the creative arts and the kindest and most individual of pastoral care. Students will be taught in small classes and a distinctive feature will be their focus on language development, independent thinking and creativity. This will allow each child to reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally, developing students who will flourish as global citizens.
