Dear incoming parents,
A warm welcome from the SPGS Parents’ Guild!
All parents automatically become members of the SPGS Parents’ Guild when their daughter joins the school, and we look forward to welcoming you into our warm, friendly and inclusive community. The SPGS Parents’ Guild serves two purposes: to foster a strong sense of community within the school and to raise funds to enhance the lives of the students at the school. The Guild aims to foster this community spirit through a variety of activities for pupils, parents and their families, and staff throughout the year. The funds that we raise are distributed to the Bursary Fund, to charities chosen by the girls and to school projects that benefit the girls in ways that fall outside departmental budgets, such as travel scholarships and author visits.
There are several key activities for which the Parents’ Guild is responsible:
The popular Christmas Fair, which is held every other year, is the Parents’ Guild main fundraising event. The next Christmas Fair will take place this year on Saturday 21 November and we are all looking forward to it. The whole school community gets together to help organise this day and we are looking for many volunteers to help us.
Our Lost Property Team helps reunite students with their possessions by running the daily lost property service and regular second-hand uniform sales. The Flower Team’s lovely floral displays make the school even more beautiful; you may have noticed these on the Marble and elsewhere on your visits to St. Paul’s. Our Arts Society Team arranges interesting cultural and artistic events on a not-for-profit basis. The Sports Club gives access to the school’s excellent pool to all of you. Last, but by no means least, our efficient network of year reps and teaching class reps organise social gatherings for parents and also for the girls.
All parents are most welcome to become involved in the work of the Guild and we very much hope you will consider volunteering. You can do as much or as little as you wish, volunteering is not time consuming, in fact many of our volunteers are working parents. Please do consider joining one of our teams or becoming a teaching class rep.
As part of this information pack you will find a Volunteer Form to volunteer with the Parents’ Guild. Currently, over 120 parents volunteer to support the school community in different ways, and find it an easy and enjoyable way to meet other parents. If you would like to become more involved with the Guild, please fill in this form and return it to the Admissions Office via email@example.com.
Also included in the information pack is a Membership Application Form for the Parents’ Guild Sports Club which gives you and your family access to the school swimming pool on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and weekend mornings during term time.
We very much look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the St Paul’s Girls’ School community.
With best wishes,
Chair of the SPGS Parents’ Guild
