The PSHE and citizenship curriculum is designed to support and promote the personal, social and intellectual development of all pupils, and also to enable them to become active and informed citizens. This course is delivered to girls from the MIV to the VI by their tutor, their head of year, experts on the staff or outside speakers. It is tailored to address issues relevant to particular age groups at the appropriate time.
PSHE covers elements of practical knowledge – from participating in politics to health related issues – and also seeks to teach life skills, such as decision making and time management. Girls will also be educated in internet safety, relationships and coping with challenges. With the help of their tutor, students will be expected to engage with current events and issues facing individuals and society, articulating their own views and developing their ideas.
The programme is specific to the needs of the pupils at St Paul’s and develops in response to feedback from girls.
