Following from the spectacular Gala Dinner and Auction at the House of Commons on Thursday 19 November, we are delighted to report we raised some £500,000 towards our £1,000,000 target for Phase 1 of the estates plan. This is a fantastic achievement and it secures funding for the senior school common room, a classroom and a number of outdoor garden rooms, all of which have been named by generous donors. We much appreciate participation at all levels from the entire St Paul’s community and we owe a debt of gratitude to those donors who have made a gift or pledged so far.
The evening commenced with a champagne reception in the wonderfully restored Strangers’ Dining Room, and moving into the Members’ Dining Room we heard speeches from Jesse Norman, our host MP, and High Mistress Clarissa Farr. After dinner, guest speaker Old Paulina and economist Stephanie Flanders shared her memories of Friday Lecture as a senior at St Paul’s, and the evening culminated with a live auction led by Lord Poltimore of Sotheby’s. Taking bids on exciting holidays and sports experiences, Lord Poltimore raised nearly £86,000 in just a few short minutes.
