Our relationship with St Paul’s Girls’ School has moved from strength to strength in the last two years and we get a real sense that the teachers who help our higher achieving students are really engaged in facilitating their success. Sophie Harrowes, Hammersmith Academy
SPGS partnerships works closely to support and upskill all staff at SPGS and those within our partner schools. Through shared professional development, mentoring, curriculum design and delivery and networking opportunities, we work together to improve the quality of teaching and learning across the community.
SPGSS is our Saturday creative arts programme that piloted in spring 2025. It has been designed to provide Y7 and Y8 students from both SPGS and West London Partnership schools with hands-on experience in the Arts.
This exciting collaboration gives students the chance to explore the Arts under the guidance of professionals. Our workshops aim to foster creative autonomy, culminating in a final showcase featuring original scripts and performances devised and inspired by the students’ interests. The 10-week programme gives students access to lectures to support career progressions in the Arts, delivered by professionals working in the field. The hope is to expand the programme to include music and media-based projects and extend these to all year groups.
The SPGS Mandarin HSK Course is an afterschool language learning course which introduces Y8 and Y9 students to Chinese language and prepares them for the accredited Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) qualification. The HSK test is the official qualification in Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers. The course is delivered by our lead teacher of Mandarin with the help of SPGS students studying iGCSE Mandarin, supported by language specialist professors from SOAS University.
SPGS provides a range of annual and bi-annual conferences. WLP students enjoy reciprocal invitations to talks and events covering a diverse range of topics. The aim is to support supra-curricular provision and all schools with the delivery of the extensive A level curriculum in a range of subjects.
As well as those mentioned, there are also a range of afterschool talks delivered to support mathematics, linguistics and science.
Sixth form students across the partnership are offered a wealth of opportunities to prepare for higher education and explore potential university pathways. Last year alone, over 300 students from our partner schools accessed our Higher Education and Careers programmes. These included careers forums, networking events, HE conferences, specialist university preparation sessions and work experience opportunities.
Our university preparation sessions provide partnership students with tailored advice, interview practice and personal statement guidance. Access to expert guidance to support application to the most competitive universities and courses. For example, Oxbridge veterinary medicine, dentistry medicine, medicine and engineering.
