Christmas Concert and Carol Service

Christmas Concert and Carol Service

Not even Covid-19 can stop the music department from pulling out the stops at Christmas time. This year we enjoyed our first-ever virtual live-streamed Christmas Concert and Carol Service.

Traditional highlights of the Autumn term calendar, this year our Christmas Concert and Carol Service were pre-recorded and streamed out to our school community. We were very grateful to parents and Old Paulinas who attended the live streams and gave generously to collections to support the Music Junction project and the school hardship fund. Andreana, VIII, describes how it felt to participate in these reimagined events:

Not even Covid-19 can stop the music department from pulling out the stops at Christmas time! This week, we had our first virtual live-streamed Christmas Concert and Carol Service. Many different ensembles, all formed within the constraints of year group bubbles, performed an impressive feast of works by composers ranging from Rutter, Beethoven, Purcell and Mozart to our very own Dr Hughes and Mr Flinders. As per St Paul’s tradition, the concert ended with lively renditions of the Gardner carols. It was lovely to see music living on and drawing us all together during these strange times.
