The school, which opened on 25 August 2026, is the newest member of the growing SPGS International network of partner schools. It joins SPGS International School Chengdu (opened in 2021) and SPGS International School Singapore (opening in January 2027).
The celebration marked an important milestone for SPGS International School Bangkok, and the presence of the High Mistress and Chair of Governors was a testament to the strong partnership between the schools. It was also a chance to celebrate the foundation of a new community. Guests enjoyed musical performances from students and heard a reflection from Old Paulina Ms Piyabhida Sucharitkul, who shared memories of her time as a student at St Paul’s Girls’ School in the 1950s and spoke of how it instilled a real love of learning and a joy of discovery that has stayed with her through life.
Mrs Hewer was struck by how closely the Bangkok campus echoes London, from the Marble and the Brook Green Café to the Great Hall. “This is not a school that has simply borrowed the name of St Paul’s Girls’ School,” she said. “This is a school that has been built, quite deliberately, on its ethos and character.”
That ethos is now taking root in Bangkok, carried by people as well as buildings. Founding Head Leigh O’Hara and Alex Perdikis, who leads learning and teaching in the Senior School, both bring experience of leadership and teaching at SPGS. They also bring an authentic understanding of what makes a St Paul’s Girls’ School education distinctive, and how to adapt that experience so that it is relevant for students in Bangkok.
As the school grows, it will open up exciting opportunities for collaboration and exchange, and we look forward to the many ways the two communities will learn from, and with, one another in the years ahead.
