History Society Visiting Speaker

Although we have switched back to remote learning this term, students were delighted to hear that history society is alive and well and preparing to welcome three brilliant speakers to begin the new year. This week we enjoyed a fascinating lecture from Dr Neil Price of Uppsala State University on the topic ‘A female Viking warrior? Debating an excavated grave from Sweden’. A silver lining of lockdown has been the increasing use of technology and resulting increased access to a range of speakers from different institutions and locations, who wouldn’t necessarily be able to visit us in Brook Green. A broad range of talks spanning multiple continents and time periods has widened students’ knowledge significantly beyond the classroom. Thank you to Dr Price for giving up his time to speak to us and to Ms Coutts for organising the talk.
