U19 Girls’ National Chess Finals

In April, Anika (VII), Sohana (LV), Mia, Matthea and Isabel (all MIV) travelled to St. Catherine's School to play in the U19 Girls’ National Chess Finals.

It was a gruelling two-day event, featuring chess players under the age of 19 from all over the UK. The standard of play was very high and all games proved to be a tough challenge. We fielded two teams in an all-play-all format and I am delighted to say that our A team placed 2nd nationally. The students should be extremely proud of their achievement. It is exciting to see chess at St Paul’s moving from strength to strength and we eagerly anticipate many more successes in the years to come.
