Set during the roaring 20s, Chicago follows two competing vaudeville murderesses, Roxie and Velma, as they fight for freedom and fame, with the help of suave lawyer Billy Flynn and ‘keeper of the keys’ Mama Morton. Intensive rehearsals began back in June, with all cast members working hard to perfect the iconic jazzy numbers and Bob Fosse choreography. These months of hard work culminated in four performances that made the entire cast extremely proud of what we had accomplished. The talent of the ensemble, along with the incredible live band and gorgeous costumes, created a show that certainly ‘razzle-dazzled’ the audience! As our last SPGS musical, it was an incredibly special experience; we would do it all again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much to Miss Foley, Miss Pegler, Mr Wakerell, Ms Strong, Miss Orwick, and everyone else involved, for making this production unforgettable – we simply couldn’t do it alone!
