LV Directors’ Forum

LV Directors’ Forum

Participating in the Director’s Forum this year has been such a thrilling and novel experience! Six of us from the LV each chose an extract, and directed a group of friends to perform the various characters.

Instead of choosing an extract from an existing play, I decided to adapt a scene from one of my favourite books, Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell, into a script format. The other directors showcased scenes that ranged from unrequited love, an interrogation of suspects and a comedy. We even had an extract from the musical Hamilton!

It was a truly unique opportunity to have full say in our productions – I loved the fact that as directors and actors, we got to make our own decisions about every aspect, from character costumes, through to the choreography and selection of music and sounds to set the scene. A big thank you to the drama department who supported us with staging, props and costumes to bring our ideas to life.

Being in the audience and seeing the productions we had envisioned come together for the final performances was hugely satisfying. Congratulations again to all the directors and actors on their successful performances!
