Mr Fox’s Ironman Triathlon for the Bursary Fund

Mr Fox’s Ironman Triathlon for the Bursary Fund

On Saturday 24 June, Chemistry Teacher Tom Fox will be undertaking an ironman triathlon to support our Bursary Fund.

He is raising money in memory of his friend Beth, who tragically passed away last year. Beth was an avid rower, and as such Tom is going to replace the swim with a row – 6.5km in a single scull along the Head of the River course from Chiswick to Putney, followed by a 180km ride to Henley-on-Thames and a marathon around London. Let us all support him in this challenge – staff, students and parents – and all those from the alumnae community! We wish him the very best of luck and will be there to cheer him on during the day!

The provision of bursaries is a central focus of the school – our bursary students enrich our community beyond measure. Currently, 11% of the student roll receives bursary support, and we are looking to significantly increase that figure over the coming years. Supporting Tom will allow us to continue to support bursary students at SPGS, so please donate!

Further details and information on how to support Tom can be found here.

Mrs Julia Mallis, Foundation Director

For 2023, I am challenging myself to a unique sporting endeavour, an ironman triathlon. I have always viewed myself as sporty and someone who revels in a challenge. Having rowed competitively for nearly ten years in my free time, naturally, I would want to jump into this ironman despite having never previously done a triathlon.

I am fundraising for the SPGS Bursary Fund and UK Sepsis Trust simultaneously. The commitment of the school to increasing its Bursary Programme is something that makes me feel proud, to be a part of this institution, to increase equality and advance social mobility. The current work of our students in the RAISE committee has inspired me and I am keen to play my part in helping to open further opportunities for future Paulinas.
