Henley Women’s Regatta

Early on Saturday 21 June, a crew made up of rowers in the V and VI travelled to Henley-on-Thames to compete in Henley Women’s Regatta 2025. After arriving, rigging, and shaking off any nerves, we boated and begun to warm up for the time trial. A 1500m course to race and 27 other crews to compete against - only 16 could qualify for the next round. With cheers from friends and family and plenty of adrenaline pushing us on, the time trial was completed.

We rowed excellently, but were all quite anxious about how the results would turn out. On top of the uncertainty that comes with awaiting results in a usual race, we were competing in the Junior 8+ category, so most of our opposition was older than us by a few years. Waiting impatiently by the speaker as the results of the time trial were announced, we found out – much to all of our surprise and excitement – that we had qualified.

After the four hour wait between events, the time eventually came for our second race – a side-by-side against LEH’s senior boat. Unfortunately, despite our crew’s amazing performance during the race, we didn’t manage to make it to the following round. Still, it was such an incredible experience for all of us, and a promising indicator for events to come! Well done to all of the rowers involved, and a big thank you to our coaches – especially to Mr Prior, who managed and supported us throughout the day.
