Autumn term volunteering

Autumn term volunteering

On Thursday 27 November, we set out to St Peters Square for an afternoon of bulb planting with Abundance London. We were given a brief history of Hammersmith and Fulham’s one of two squares by some very lovely residents and were told about the statue ‘The Greek Runner’ which had only recently been reopened after extensive restoration works.

We were then provided a trowel and gloves and started planting. It was a wonderful experience that encouraged us to get our hands dirty and engage with nature. Some of us were given the task of weeding, which turned out to be a very fun job. We learned about our ecosystem and got to appreciate it fully, along with the worms which came with it. This was a wonderful experience which I would definitely do again. Thank you so much to the teachers involved, and we can’t wait to come back soon to see the flowers in bloom!

I loved singing carols for people at Nourish Hub! I am very happy that I signed up to go, and I think that it was definitely worth it. I feel grateful to TimeGivers and proud that I was able to give that happiness to all of those people, and I loved the feeling when they clapped after every carol! This has inspired me to do more volunteering for sure!
