Videography Competition

Videography Competition

The first ever St Paul’s Videography Competition (SPVC) took place on Friday 4 February in collaboration with St Paul's School.

The SPVC movie premiere was attended by 50 students and included a chance to get photographed by “paparazzi” and walk the red carpet. In the lead up to the event, Eliza and Natasha (both VII) ran workshop sessions to help students with their submissions in the hopes that the competition would be educational. The two were inspired to start SPVC as a rebooted version of Backtrack, the old music video competition, which ran up until 2016 that they entered in MIV.

Thirteen shortlisted entries were shown from across all year groups and winners decided by the judges, Ms Orchard, Mr Bunning, and Ms Lane. Ellis and Clara (both MIV) won the junior competition with Mouserella, a stop-motion retelling of Cinderella. Sasha M’s (VI) Existentiality and Sasha P’s (VII) Don’t Forget to Breathe came joint second in the senior competition. Inaaya (V) won the senior competition for her music video to the sound of Ylang Ylang with a great use of light and camera angles to tell a story. Daniella, Melissa, and Sumi (all V) won the popular vote for their Dreams animation creatively depicting a student who worries about an exam. Congratulations to all winners and thank you to everyone who entered.
