Dulwich Open Debating Competition

Dulwich Open Debating Competition

After years of online debating, it was amazing to be back at an in-person competition for Dulwich Open.

Our skills weren’t as rusty as we feared after the long summer and we pulled off some satisfying wins against familiar competitors such as Eton and South Hampstead High School over topics ranging from tourism and sports to international relations. Christiane (VI) and I broke in first place to the final (although Eton later beat us) and Frankie and Izzy (both VI) very narrowly missed out on the break. Meanwhile in individual speaker scores Rosanagh (VI) placed tenth, Christiane second and I first. Medha (VI), Raniya (V), Hina (V), Vanessa (V) and Francesca (V) also did very well, and altogether we proved ourselves as tough opponents.
